When I started
I started Synchronized Swimming in the summer of 1984. This was the first year Synchro was in the Olympics. Candy Costie and Tracy Ruiz were the winners in synchro that year.
They won figures, solo and duet.
How I started
I started Synchronized Swimming in the summer of 1984. My mom signed me up for class and said to get up at 6am so I could go down to the pool and do the Synchronized Swimming class.
She said it was a mixture of Gymnastics and Swimming, two sports that I was good at, so she thought I might like it.
And boy did I like it:)
Why I love it
I love how you are always learning something new and once you have got one skill down it translates beautifully to you doing the next more difficult skill.
You are always learning. The sport is dynamic in nature.
Routines are the same, music is the same for one season, but the amount of skills learned and perfected in one season is, a lot!
How I stay motivated
I focus on keeping the basics perfect and making the new skills learned perfect.
I like to do the best that I can at all times. This sport is constantly challenging me to be perfect. I am always striving for that perfection.
When I don't make my goals I am still having fun with team mates. Sometimes I am able to help them even if I am not able to hit my goal for the day.
This means I always leave practice with a sense of accomplishment.
Accomplishments
I was a nationally ranked duet at Age Group Nationals in 1987, I then placed at Nationals in the trio competition during the years of 1988,1989, 1990 and 1992.
In 1992 the trio I competed in was 2nd at the West Zone Championships, Jr. Nationals, Age Group Nationals and US Opens.
I am most proud of the 1992 US Open competition. Our trio's scores were in the high 8's and low 9's.
We were a strong trio and it was one of the highlights in my life.

I currently coach for the club I founded. We are called Sunshine Synchro Splash.
It has been a life long dream of mine to run a club.
