Has anyone blacked out when they are doing a series of figures. About 4 months ago I was in the pool doing a series of moves that had me vertical and uw for about 20 secs when I paniced and ran out of air. I remember trying to swim to the surface but was so mixed up I touched the bottom. Never I knew I was on the pool deck being given CPR and spitting out water. About half a dozen of the girls in the pool swam to rescue me. I felt embarassed being one ofo the novice swimrs on the club.

That's not nice Tammy:(
I have never blacked out before but I have been at meets where athletes have blacked out during the practice portion of the competition. Many of them were at the top of our sport in their age group. Meaning they were highly trained for their age and level.
Often it was reported later that the swimmers had been ill and recovering or they were currently ill.
I became disoriented once while doing a series of spins. I made it to the top, but it was very scary. It turned out later that I had an inner ear issue going on and that was the cause.
I also had a duet partner who's inner ear ruptured during our duet at a national competition and she had to literally float her way through the last 20 seconds of our routine. It was scary for her and me.
So maybe you should get your ears checked. It could be as simple as an ear infection.
Take care,
Wendy
