@Rob: That is really awesome Rob! Don't worry, everyone takes time to learn how to get better in synchro. Just keep motivated, work your hardest and I guarentee you will start to improve. That story is actually very inspirering to me!! :)
p.s make those guys who were giving you a hard time come to watch you sometime and mabey even make them try it so they can see that it is definately NOT a wimpy sport!
I finished my lifeguarding course a few weeks ago and guess what..I didn't even get a chance to race him! However, one of the things we had to do in it was butterfly because the teacher wanted to make sure we knew how to do it. When we would do a lap, half of us would go and when we were done, the other half would go. Of course, the way it worked out was me and him would never be going at the same time to see who was faster. But later that day I was talking to him on msn and he said "I don't know how you can go so fast in fly!"
Another thing that we did one time when we had a few extra minutes at the end, was play "sharks and minows". If you don''t know how to play: one person is in the middle and they call out sharks and minows. You then have to swim to the other side of the pool without getting caught. The only way you can get caught is if they tag you when part of you is out of the water. I would just swim at the bottom of the pool until I got across and would be the last one to get tagged each time. :)
So even though we never raced or competed in anything, I could tell he must of been impressed even if he didn't exactly show it. You must be right Rob about synchro being the hardest swimming sport! haha
